What is paramount to ultimate wellness? Simple answer... nutrition. Present day people are fatter and fatter, have more diabetes, cancer, high blood pressure and a whole host of other diseases.
It is my firm belief that the key to good health is good nutrition. Not medicine, medical procedures or even exercise. Good diet = good health.
Every time you put bad food into your body it causes a negative response.
So what is the utltimate healthy eating plan. Well, their are many. My recommedations are South Beach or The Zone diet. Both focus on eating the right kinds of fats and carbohydrates and lean proteins. A simple formula. You don't need to count carbs, fat grams, calories, sugars blah, blah blah. These diets are simple eating for a healthier you. You can go to any second hand book store and get the South Beach Diet or Zone diet book.
Give it a try. You'll see a big difference in your health.

Nothing Fishy about Fish Oil
If their is any supplement that I would recommend for the healthy or unhealthy, it would me omega 3 fish oil. Fish oil, "how disgusting some will say", but this may be the most powerful supplement needed to fight disease or to prevent it all together.
The components of fish oil DHA, EPA are substances that the body does not produce on its own. So we need to get them from our diet. We all get Omega 6's in our diets from vegetable oils which are found in cakes, cookies and the majority of processed foods we eat. Omega 6's are bad for us because they increase inflammation. Inflammation is the root all all diseases such as cancer, heart disease, autoimmune disease, high blood pressure, high cholesterol and much, much more.
Why are omega 3's different? Well they have the opposite effect in the body. DHA, EPA (Omega 3's), are potent anti-inflammatorys, and they also block the production of eicosinoids, which are themselves inflammatory substances. A well know eicosinoid is prostagladin. Whether familier or not, we all take things like advil, naproxen, pamprin to block these substances. NSAIDS work, but they have terrible side effects such as gastritis, stomach ulcers, kidney failure and a whole host of other detrimental effects.
So how much fish oil would I recommend. I personally take 5000mg of fish oil. To figure this out I get my bottle of fish oil and add up the EPA and DHA, and take the amount needed to equal 5000. If your already have established disease, chronic, debilitating disease, you may want to start with 7500 mg of fish oil. I use the liquid because in order to get 5000 mg I would need a tremendous amount of capsules.
There are many good fish oils out there. I recommend nordic naturals, carlson, cor-omega, or Pharm-omega. Great products which are third party tested.
If you have great interest in learning more about fish oil, a great book I recommend is the "Anti-inflammation Zone" written by Barry Sears. The author of the Zone diet.
Once you start using this supplement you will notice great changes in about 4 weeks. Less pain, greater energy, clearer thinking and above all you may see remission in some of the diseases you are afflicted with
Good fishing everyone!!!!

Vitamin D, The Wonder Vitamin
The media has recently started covering the great interest in the supplementation of vitamin D. In the past, we all thought we were getting enough Vit D from milk and milk products, as well as from the sun.
It turns out that the majority, if not all Americans, especially in northern climates are grossly deficient in Vitamin D levels. How could that be? The RDA set forth by the government calls for only 400 IU's per day.
Since blood testing for Vit D. (you want to take vitamin D3 if you supplement), is now readily available and accurate, we are finding most people grossly deficient in this vitamin level, even people who are in the sun all day.
So the point of this blog, is to let people know that one of the vitamins you should supplement is vitamin D. (D3 in the gelcap is the only one that has effect on blood levels.)
I personally was taking 5000 IU's per day in the month of June and my level was still only 42. Healthy levels should be between 50-60.
Why is this level so important? Research has shown that vit D. deficiency has been linked to heart disease, depression, autoimmune disease, autism and much, much more.
For extensive information on this subject, a good website is the Vit. D's council's http://www.vitamindcouncil.com.
You will start to see more and more reporting on this because this may be a revolutionary vitamin.
Thanks

Abandonment of western medicine
Hello,
Greetings from the alternative to non-western medicine site. My wife and I have had health problems since about age 20. My wife more so than me. We have been to numerous western doctors to treat problems for depression, irritable bowel, endometriosis, thyroid disease, gastritis, back problems, high cholesterol, lichens schlerosis and many more.
We have endured many treatment and medications to try to fight these diseases, but either side effects or unsuccessful results have gravitated us towards alternative treatments for these afflictions.
At first sceptical, myself being in western medicine, I had to work on accepting that alternative treatments may indeed work.
We have tried acupuncture, manuka honey ( for reflux and gastritis), and many nutritional supplements, and to our surprise we have never felt better.
In this blog, I like to share with you my experiences as well as here from other people who have struggled with traditional medicine and seen few if not worse results.
Farewell, hope to hear from you soon
